Playbook Community Standards

1. What Playbook Is For

Playbook is a human-made cultural archive for publishing, preserving, collecting, and discovering creative work with context.

These Community Standards apply to contributions, images, profiles, account information, reports, and other material or conduct on Playbook.

The goal is not to remove difficult, historical, provocative, or challenging art.

The goal is to keep Playbook safe, lawful, authentic, and useful as a cultural archive.

Context matters.

A historical photograph, documentary image, artwork, museum object, or piece of cultural history may contain material that would be inappropriate if posted for exploitation, glorification, harassment, or shock value.

Playbook may consider artistic, historical, educational, documentary, journalistic, and cultural context when reviewing content.

These Standards operate alongside the Terms of Use, Human-Made Content Standard, and Copyright & Intellectual Property rules.

2. Human-Made Work

Playbook is for human-made creative and cultural work.

Content must comply with the current Human-Made Content Standard.

Do not knowingly:

  • submit prohibited AI-generated or synthetic work;
  • represent synthetic work as human-made;
  • falsify how a work was created;
  • manipulate evidence intended to establish that work is human-made;
  • repeatedly attempt to bypass Playbook's synthetic-content moderation.

Automated AI-detection systems are not infallible.

A technical moderation signal does not by itself establish intentional wrongdoing, and Playbook may use human review where appropriate.

3. Child Safety

Playbook has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation or abuse of minors.

Never upload, promote, request, distribute, sexualize, or facilitate material involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of anyone under 18.

This includes:

  • child sexual abuse material;
  • sexualized imagery of minors;
  • grooming or sexual solicitation involving minors;
  • exploitative nudity involving minors;
  • content that facilitates child exploitation;
  • links or directions to such material.

Artistic or historical framing does not excuse child sexual exploitation material.

Playbook may remove content, restrict accounts, preserve appropriate safety evidence, and report material where required by law.

4. Sexual and Explicit Content

Playbook is an art and cultural archive, so nudity is not automatically prohibited.

Context matters.

Material may be permitted where it has genuine artistic, historical, documentary, educational, anatomical, or cultural relevance.

However, Playbook may remove or restrict:

  • pornography;
  • content primarily intended for sexual arousal;
  • explicit sexual activity;
  • sexual exploitation;
  • non-consensual sexual imagery;
  • sexual violence presented exploitatively;
  • fetish content whose primary purpose is sexual gratification;
  • sexually exploitative imagery;
  • prohibited sexual content involving minors.

A work's artistic label alone does not make otherwise prohibited sexual content acceptable.

5. Hate and Extremism

Do not use Playbook to attack, dehumanize, threaten, or advocate violence or exclusion against people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or similar protected status.

Playbook may remove content that:

  • praises or promotes hateful ideology;
  • calls for violence against protected groups;
  • dehumanizes protected groups;
  • celebrates atrocities against protected groups;
  • recruits for or materially promotes violent extremist organizations.

Historical, archival, documentary, journalistic, educational, or artistic depictions of extremist symbols or hateful material may be permitted where the context does not praise, recruit for, or meaningfully promote the ideology.

For example, documenting wartime propaganda as a historical artifact is different from publishing the same material as extremist advocacy.

6. Violence, Gore, and Dangerous Material

Violence can appear in art, photography, film, historical records, design, and cultural documentation.

Playbook therefore evaluates violent material in context.

Content may be restricted or removed where it:

  • depicts extreme gore primarily for shock or gratification;
  • celebrates or encourages serious violence;
  • contains credible threats;
  • promotes murder, terrorism, torture, or serious physical harm;
  • encourages dangerous acts likely to cause serious injury;
  • provides material assistance for serious violent wrongdoing.

Documentary, historical, artistic, medical, or educational material may be treated differently where its purpose and presentation provide legitimate context.

Playbook may route borderline violent or graphic material to human review.

7. Illegal and Seriously Harmful Activity

Do not use Playbook to facilitate serious unlawful or harmful activity.

This includes using Playbook to:

  • arrange or promote trafficking or exploitation;
  • facilitate serious violence;
  • distribute illegal material;
  • coordinate criminal activity;
  • promote dangerous criminal instructions;
  • evade legitimate platform enforcement through fraudulent conduct.

Merely documenting an unlawful object, historical crime, controversial event, or prohibited practice does not necessarily violate this rule.

The distinction is between documenting culture and facilitating harm.

8. Harassment and Threats

Do not use Playbook to harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or target another person.

Prohibited conduct may include:

  • credible threats of harm;
  • repeated targeted abuse;
  • degrading attacks directed at an individual;
  • encouraging others to harass someone;
  • malicious publication of private information;
  • impersonation intended to harass or deceive.

Criticism, disagreement, historical analysis, and discussion of public creative work are not automatically harassment.

Context, persistence, severity, and targeting matter.

9. Privacy and Personal Information

Do not publish private or sensitive personal information about another person without a legitimate right or appropriate permission.

This may include:

  • private home addresses;
  • private telephone numbers;
  • private email addresses;
  • financial information;
  • authentication credentials;
  • government identification numbers;
  • private medical information;
  • precise live location information;
  • other sensitive information that creates a meaningful safety or privacy risk.

Information that is genuinely part of a historical, public, documentary, or archival record may require contextual review rather than automatic removal.

Do not use Playbook to dox, stalk, threaten, or expose another person to harm.

10. Intellectual Property

Respect copyright, trademark, moral rights, publicity rights, and other intellectual-property rights.

Do not knowingly upload material when you do not have the legal right to publish it.

When submitting work, you may be required to confirm that you own the relevant images or have permission to publish them.

Crediting an artist or photographer does not automatically give you permission to reproduce copyrighted material.

Playbook may remove material following a valid intellectual-property complaint.

11. False Attribution, Provenance, and Misleading Information

Playbook is an archive, so provenance and context matter.

Do not knowingly make materially false claims about:

  • who created a work;
  • authorship;
  • ownership;
  • origin;
  • year;
  • creator or maker identity;
  • whether a work is human-made;
  • historical provenance;
  • whether you have rights to publish an image.

Good-faith mistakes are different from deliberate deception.

Historical information is sometimes uncertain or disputed. Users may describe uncertainty where appropriate.

Playbook may correct, restrict, reject, or remove materially misleading archive information.

12. Impersonation

Do not impersonate another person, artist, creator, organization, institution, estate, gallery, museum, or rights holder in a deceptive manner.

Fan, archival, educational, or tribute accounts must not falsely imply official affiliation where none exists.

13. Spam, Scams, and Manipulation

Do not use Playbook for spam, scams, fraudulent promotion, or platform manipulation.

This includes:

  • repetitive irrelevant submissions;
  • fraudulent links;
  • phishing;
  • deceptive commercial schemes;
  • fake engagement;
  • automated account abuse;
  • coordinated manipulation of recommendations;
  • manipulation of reporting systems;
  • attempts to artificially inflate distribution or visibility;
  • malicious or misleading redirects.

Playbook is not intended to function as an advertising network.

14. Archive Relevance

Playbook exists to archive and discover meaningful creative and cultural work.

Submissions should have a reasonable relationship to art, design, craft, photography, music, architecture, film, technology, cultural objects, creative media, or another supported Playbook category.

Playbook may reject content that is primarily:

  • random personal imagery with no archival context;
  • advertising;
  • repetitive promotional material;
  • unrelated screenshots;
  • spam;
  • meaningless uploads;
  • material submitted only to manipulate recommendation systems.

Unusual or unconventional creative work should not be rejected merely because it is unfamiliar.

Do not use profiles, contribution text, or other Playbook fields to distribute:

  • malware;
  • phishing links;
  • credential-stealing pages;
  • fraudulent redirects;
  • malicious downloads;
  • links designed to compromise another person or device.

Do not attempt to interfere with Playbook's infrastructure, accounts, APIs, moderation tools, storage, databases, or security controls.

16. Reporting Content

Users can report published works they reasonably believe violate Playbook rules.

Current report categories include:

  • Intellectual property
  • Sexual or explicit content
  • Hate or extremism
  • Dangerous or illegal activity
  • Privacy violation
  • Spam or scam
  • False or misleading
  • Not appropriate for Playbook
  • Other

Reports are reviewed.

Submitting a report does not automatically remove a work from Playbook.

Do not knowingly submit false, malicious, retaliatory, or abusive reports.

One genuine report is enough. Repeatedly reporting the same material does not increase the legitimacy of a complaint.

17. Blocking

Users may block other creators.

Blocking may affect:

  • Home recommendations;
  • Explore recommendations;
  • search results;
  • creator discovery;
  • following relationships;
  • access to creator profiles or works.

Do not attempt to circumvent another person's block using alternate accounts or other abusive methods.

18. How Playbook Moderates

Playbook may use a combination of:

  • automated moderation;
  • third-party classification services;
  • rule-based systems;
  • human review;
  • user reports;
  • administrative review.

Depending on the content and confidence level, a submission may be:

  • approved;
  • rejected;
  • routed to human review;
  • removed after publication;
  • kept live following review.

Playbook may preserve limited moderation evidence or enforcement history where reasonably necessary for safety, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or legal compliance.

Automated systems can make mistakes.

Playbook therefore does not treat every automated moderation signal as conclusive proof of intentional misconduct.

19. Enforcement

Depending on severity, context, repetition, and risk, Playbook may:

  • reject a submission;
  • require changes;
  • place material into review;
  • remove published material;
  • limit publishing functionality;
  • restrict an account;
  • suspend an account;
  • terminate an account.

Serious violations may result in immediate action.

Repeated violations may result in escalating enforcement.

Playbook may consider:

  • severity;
  • context;
  • intent where reasonably ascertainable;
  • user history;
  • risk to others;
  • whether the issue can reasonably be corrected;
  • applicable legal requirements.

20. Moderation Review

If you believe Playbook made a moderation or enforcement error, contact:

Include enough information for us to identify the affected contribution or account and understand why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.

A request for review does not guarantee that a decision will be reversed.

21. Emergency or Illegal Content

The in-app report system is intended for Playbook policy review.

It is not an emergency service.

Where Playbook becomes aware of content that must be preserved, removed, disclosed, or reported under applicable law, Playbook may take the actions reasonably required.

22. Changes to These Standards

Playbook may update these Community Standards as the Service, risks, laws, or moderation practices evolve.

Each published version will have a version number and effective date.

Where acceptance of a new version is required before publishing content, Playbook may require users to accept that version before submitting new work.

Historical acceptance records may be maintained to determine which version a user accepted and when.
